Inspiration and Experience
Meetu draws inspiration from the bright and vibrant colours, the textures and the feel of fabrics, and the kaleidoscope of patterns that one experiences in everyday life. She is fascinated by the wonders different weaves introduce to an otherwise simple outfit, and loves walking through markets feeling the touch of the plethora of fabrics on display. She can sit for hours on end, just sketching out the – seemingly endless – designs that flow out of her thoughts…
The diversity across cultures also inspires Meetu’s work. The varied ethnicity, style and technique across cultures, fascinates her, and she strives to blend these facets together in her designs…
In her 25 year career, Meetu has successfully established the Damini label in Chandigarh and Gurgaon, with a dedicated and loyal customer base in both cities. Apart from her own outlet, her collections have retailed out of 3 specialty shops in Delhi, Chandigarh, and Los Angeles(USA). Over the years, she has showcased her collections extensively through international and domestic exhibitions. Her label “Damini” has also been featured in the Femina Bridal Show, New Delhi.
